June 2025
Welcome to the June Construction Update for Monarch PK-8. With school officially over for the year and students and staff off for a well-earned summer break, construction at Monarch PK-8 is well underway. Work is happening both inside the school and around the campus. Thus, we ask that you or your student(s) not come to the MPK8 campus unless specifically requested by a coach/sponsor or administrator. Note that the Monarch PK-8 small gym has now been converted into the Monarch High School weight room with the MHS equipment temporarily relocated there. All students who are instructed to meet for workouts with their coach/sponsor will go to the exit/entry door on the east side of MPK8 to access this gym.
Below is an overview of the construction activities that will be taking place throughout the MPK8 campus during the month of June:
- Regrading and turf improvements at the softball field
- Select repairs and upgrades of drainage on the roof
- Complete demo of lights, ceilings, walls and floor in the CTE areas of Culinary and Tech
- Begin build back of these areas, with new room layout and wall configuration
- Begin replacement of the fire alarm system - ongoing throughout the summer
- Complete major electrical upgrades in select areas of the school

- The focus of CTE at Monarch K-8 is to update current spaces to allow for more collaboration and maker spaces. A maker space adjacent to the media center is of particular interest with this school. We are looking at how to open areas up to allow more efficient use in these spaces.
- SD documents were issued at the end of April and pricing received is showing that this project is also over budget. We have identified that most of the overages on this project are building code related to lighting and fire alarm scopes.
- DDs were received on July 3rd with final CDs scheduled to deliver to BVSD on August 23rd.
