Welcome to the September Construction Update for Monarch High School! Construction is substantially complete for the first year of the 2-year project. Students and staff are enjoying their new and renovated spaces and updates to our facilities outlined in the Critical Needs Plan! Final task-list items are being addressed and completed throughout the school but there should be no disruptions to the normal operations of the school. The track has been recently completed and all activities on this and the turf field have resumed. We appreciate everyone’s patience and flexibility while these were wrapped up.
Note that while some minor items will be completed throughout the school year, we will have another full summer of renovations in 2026 to complete this project. We hope you have a wonderful 2025-26 school year and look for more Bond Construction communication from BVSD beginning in May of 2026. Go Coyotes!
August 2025
August 2025
Welcome to the August Construction Update for Monarch High School! We are extremely excited to report that the summer 2025 Bond construction project is now substantially complete. Though we are just completing the first of a two year project, we are so appreciative of the staff, students and Monarch community for their patience and flexibility during this disruptive time on the MHS campus. As a reminder, here are some of the major items that were completed over the summer here at Monarch High School:
- New fire alarm system installed
- New athletic training room between the athletic locker rooms in the lower level
- New restrooms for students on the first floor classroom wing
- New turf field with customized endzone logos and rebuilt track*
- Resurfaced and repainted tennis courts
- Repaved and striped parking lot
- Remodeled career and technical education spaces
*Work on the surface of the track is ongoing due to unforeseen subgrade issues discovered in the course of construction. To allow the contractor to expedite the completion of this work, soccer and football practices and games have been relocated to other locations on the Monarch campus or other schools temporarily. Coaches will communicate details directly to athletes. In addition, the grass on the flag football field needs some additional time to fill in before it can be used. In the meantime, practices and games will be played on the Monarch PK-8 field. We are grateful for the flexibility and understanding of Monarch leadership, coaches, and athletes while we wrap up this part of the project.

June 2025
Welcome to the June Construction Update for Monarch High School! With school officially over for the year and students and staff off for a well-earned summer break, construction at Monarch HS has ramped up immediately. As a reminder, the MHS Bond project is a complex and logistically challenging two-summer undertaking. We ask that you or your student(s) not come to the MHS campus unless specifically requested by a coach/sponsor or administrator. Note that the Monarch PK-8 small gym has now temporarily been converted into the MHS weight room with the MHS equipment now fully relocated there. All students who are instructed to meet for workouts with their coach/sponsor will go to the exit/entry door on the east side of the PK-8 to access this gym.
Below is an overview of the construction activities that will be taking place throughout the MHS campus during the month of June:
- Demo and complete resurfacing at the tennis courts
- Demo turf and begin to layout of the new turf at the football field
- Demo the track, complete prep work (subgrade) and begin to resurface the track by the end of June
- Demo stairway at gym, dock area, front entrance and visitor parking lot and begin pour-back and finishing of these areas
