BVSD is in the early stages of design work for projects in the final phase of the 2022 Building for Student Success bond program. Parallel with the design process, the district is engaging with staff, families and the community to have important conversations about declining enrollment and planning for the future of the Boulder Valley School District, which includes the possible consolidation, closure, or programmatic changes at the elementary level. These conversations will continue through the spring, and final decisions on any proposed changes are anticipated for October.
To learn more about the district’s work related to declining enrollment, please see our website.
Despite this uncertainty, we are proceeding with design for several reasons. Understanding the existing needs of our buildings and the costs to address them will be valuable as BVSD develops facility options for the Board to consider. In addition, moving ahead with design will put us in a position to start construction in 2027, pending the Board’s decisions in October.
Projects are currently in the early design stages. Initial meetings with principals, project architects and BVSD project managers to learn more about the work that is planned for each school and the project timelines are underway. Meetings will continue in the coming months and next school year. More information about each project, including the full scope of work and future project updates can be found on project pages on the Building for Student Success website.
Please direct questions about the project to Kris Stoppenhagen at kris.stoppenhagen@bvsd.org.
Sincerely,
