Welcome to the final construction update for the Jamestown Elementary School playground project! We are thrilled to report the playground is finished, and it looks amazing! The students are sure to enjoy the variety of playground equipment, the open space to run and play, and the natural beauty of the mountains that surround the area.
The building renovations outlined in the BVSD Facilities Critical Needs Plan are scheduled for construction the summer of 2027. The plan includes repairs and maintenance items such as replacing HVAC system components and controls, pavement improvements, and interior finishes such as flooring. Additional updates will be provided as we get closer to the project kicking off.
We are excited for the changes that have been made here at Jamestown Elementary School this summer, and we hope you and your student(s) feel the same way. We know that this project impacted the school community and we thank you for all your patience and support. We look forward to seeing the students enjoy the playground as we approach the 2025-26 school year!

July 2025
Welcome to the July Construction Update for Jamestown Elementary School! The playground renovation is taking shape and is currently on schedule, with a completion date slated for early August.
Workers are installing a shock pad under the playground equipment, which will be covered with artificial turf. This will create a solid foundation, provide necessary fall zones, and allow ADA access for students. A new swing set and climber were installed to replace outdated equipment. The swings were relocated to allow adequate space for equipment use. A sidewalk surrounding the playground allows ADA access to the school from 16th Street. The renovated play area is sure to excite the students and provide lots of play options at recess.
We hope that this message finds your student(s) happy and enjoying the summer break. As always, we appreciate your patience and support for this project and could not be more grateful to the voters for providing BVSD the funds to make this all possible.

Some exciting improvements are coming to our playground this summer, and we want to tell you about what’s in store for the coming months.
Several areas of the playground will be renovated, including installing a new swing set and replacing the existing pea gravel with padded artificial turf beneath the slide and climbing structures. Additional work will focus on addressing tripping hazards and making safety-related upgrades to improve the overall functionality of the space for students and staff.
These renovations will be followed in 2027 with additional work that is part of the voter-approved Bond program and is described in the 2022 Facilities Critical Needs Plan.
Once school is out the fourth week of May, construction will begin and there will be no public access to the school or grounds over the summer. All of the work is scheduled to be completed by the time school starts in August.
We anticipate a standard level of construction noise on the site intermittently within the hours outlined by city ordinances. Construction work will be conducted according to all applicable regulations. We will follow local, state and federal guidelines for controlling dust and runoff from the site.
Information about the playground project and other work planned through the bond-funded Building for Student Success program can be found on the Jamestown project page of the BVSD website. Questions should be directed to Project Manager Tom Blahak at 720-561-5791 or tom.blahak@bvsd.org.
We are grateful to BVSD taxpayers for this project. We hope you share our excitement for the great improvements happening here!

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROCESS
Community Engagement
To ensure the school community is engaged in the project, the project manager (PM) will work directly with the school principal to discuss the identified renovations, meet with the architect, and coordinate the construction schedule. The principal will decide which school staff or parents might need to be involved with the design process depending on the scope of work. The project manager will share information with the entire school staff at key milestones through the design process.
