UPDATES
February 2025
Thanks to your tax dollars big changes happened here in 2024!
The Critical Needs work has been completed and this will conclude our updates. This and other construction work around the Boulder Valley School District could not be possible without the generous support from our voters and the entire BVSD community. We are extremely grateful for this support and are thrilled for the Columbine Elementary School community and its students!

Welcome to the August Construction Update for Columbine Elementary School. The bulk of the project is now complete and the remaining two items are slated for completion before students return to school on 8/14. Staff and students will return to a repaved parking lot, repaired concrete on the courtyard wall, and minor improvements inside the school. While there was not a large amount of work to be done here at Columbine this summer (as it’s a relatively new building), what was addressed will have an impact on both students and staff in the years ahead. Below is a short list of the tasks that will be completed by the time students arrive on 8/14:
-
Complete installation of kitchen equipment
-
Complete wall finishes in select areas around the school
-
Complete all punch list items by 8/14
We are extremely excited with the changes at Columbine and appreciate your support and patience as this work was completed. We look forward to seeing you in August for the 2024-25 school year and hope that you have had a wonderful summer!
July 2024
July 2024
Welcome to the July Construction Update for Columbine Elementary School. The vast majority of the work being done this summer has been completed, with just minor tasks taking place this month. Below are highlights of work planned for July:
-
Complete all work on the parking lot, including curbs, wheel stops and striping
-
Install new caps on select exterior walls
-
Reinstall handrails and install corner guards (for interior wall) in select areas
-
Complete installation of fire alarm pane
We hope that your summer is going as well and that your students are both healthy and happy. As always, we appreciate the support of the Columbine community and remain grateful to the voters for providing BVSD the funds to make this all possible.
June 2024
June 2024
Welcome to the June Construction Update for Columbine ES. We want to congratulate you and your student(s) on another successful year at Columbine and hope that this message finds your summer off to a great start! As mentioned in the previous “kick-off” letter, construction activity around the school has ramped up considerably since the Memorial Day weekend with a number of trades, hence workers, making their way around the building and site, completing a number of tasks. A reminder that the school will be an active construction site, and as such, will have very limited access to the school itself and some areas around the site. Please see below for details regarding the work taking place during the month of June here at Columbine:
-
Begin demo and layout of parking lot asphalt in select areas, recompacting as needed
-
Install slurry coat at the parking area along with wheel stops and striping as needed
-
Replace concrete wall caps on patio as needed
-
Install window film covering in select areas
-
Install wall protection in kitchen and stairs where needed
-
Install new fire alarm panel, begin testing and commissioning

The principal will decide which school staff or parents might need to be involved with the design process depending on the scope of work. The project manager will share information with the entire school staff at key milestones through the design process.
