August 2025

Welcome to the August Construction Update for Casey Middle School! We are extremely excited to report that the summer 2025 Bond construction project is now substantially complete. While there are a few final items being addressed during the month of August, the bulk of the work is now completed and the school is up and running as usual. As a reminder, here are some of the major items that were completed over the summer here at Casey MS:

• HVAC components and controls upgrades in the auditorium
• Replaced the synthetic turf field
• Replaced pavement and concrete in the circle drive by the underground parking
• Installed safety railings
• Updated kitchen ovens and dishwasher
• Renovations to expand and provide new furniture for career & technical education learning spaces 

Overall, the entire school site looks amazing, and we are thrilled about the work that has been completed. This and other facility improvements around BVSD could not be possible without the support and generosity of the entire BVSD community and we sincerely thank you for your support.

July 2025

Welcome to the July Construction Update for Casey Middle School! We have passed the halfway point for the summer construction project, and crews are well on their way to being ready for students in August. Work to be completed this month is outlined below:

• Complete installation of new field turf on the north side of the school
• Complete all concrete replacement work by underground parking lot
• Ongoing work in the auditorium in preparation for eventual installation of new roof top HVAC unit. Note: this may take place in August/early September
• Complete CTE space including identifying final tasks within the space
• Complete all exterior painting and masonry repairs

June 2025

Welcome to the June Construction Update for Casey Middle School! With school officially over for the year and students and staff off for a well-earned summer break, construction at Casey is well underway. While only select areas will be impacted by construction work inside the school, there is a lot of activity taking place on the exterior of the school. As such, the school building, along with the vast majority of the surrounding campus, are currently off limits to anyone besides construction related personnel. This will be the case for the duration of the summer.  Below is an overview of the construction activities that will be taking place throughout the Casey campus during the month of June:

• Begin replacement of the synthetic turf on the north side of the school. Existing infill has been removed and demo of the existing turf will be completed this month
• Demo, removal, and replacement of concrete walkway by the underground parking area 
• Ongoing replacement of major appliances and equipment in the kitchen
• Begin electrical rough-in at the current CTE classroom (2nd floor)

April 2025

The Contractors are gearing up to start work on the building updates and improvements in our Critical Needs Plan. Construction for the Phase 2 projects will begin after the students leave in May for summer break.

February 2025

Casey Middle School project postcards were sent to neighbors this month. 

January 2025

The Board approved the GMP Contract in December. Construction is scheduled to commence on May 27, 2025 with a substantial completion date of August 1, 2025.

November 2024

Construction documents were issued in October and the contractor's guaranteed maximum price (GMP) will go to the Board in December. Construction is planned for summer 2025.

September 2024

• The project team has been meeting with school staff to understand the school's needs and develop the design.
• The design is proceeding on schedule and bidding will occur in November/December. 
• Construction for Phase 2 projects will begin in the spring/summer of 2025.

July 2024

• SD documents were issued on July 3rd and pricing for these is expected July 24th.
• Meetings with staff to review design will be scheduled upon staff’s return. 
• Design Documents (DD) are scheduled to be issued mid-August with final Construction Documents (CD) scheduled to deliver to BVSD at the beginning of September.

May 2024

Schematic design will be completed this month and shared with the DAT. The design team will continue to develop project plans through the summer with construction bidding planned for late fall. Project announcements will be sent to neighbors this month.

April 2024

The project team of Eidos Architects and Taylor Kohrs Construction have been selected for the project. The project team will begin meeting with the Design Advisory Team this month.

February 2024

The Bond project management team is working with our Procurement staff to contract with architects for Phase 2 projects. Design work is anticipated to begin in March 2024.

November 2023

The Bond project management team is working with our Procurement staff to contract with architects for Phase 2 projects.   Design work is anticipated to begin in January 2024.

September 2023

The Bond project management team will be working with our Procurement staff this month and next to contract with architects for Phase 2 projects. 

January 2023
