UPDATES
May 2026
Dear Birch Elementary School Parents and Staff,
We hope this has been a successful school year for you and your student(s)! The BVSD Bond team is excited to let you know construction will be starting soon for renovations provided by the Building for Student Success program. These improvements are coming to Birch Elementary School thanks to support from the entire BVSD community through passage of the 2022 Bond measure.
In addition to much-needed repair and upgrades to building systems and finishes, highlights of the improvements coming to Birch Elementary include:
- Replacing soffits and skylights
- Asphalt/concrete pavement repair and replacement
- Interior improvements to address critical needs for learning environments (including flooring and ceilings)
The full scope of work can be found on the BVSD Building for Student Success website on the Birch Elementary School project page.
Our $1.3 million project will begin after the students leave in May and is scheduled to be completed by the time students return in August. There will be no public access to the school or grounds over the summer.
Student and staff safety is our top priority at Birch Elementary School and in the Boulder Valley School District. All workers who are authorized to be on-site will have numbered project stickers on their hard hats and will have background checks. There should be no reason for workers to interact with students or staff while they are in the school.
We want to keep you informed as the project progresses. We will meet weekly with the architect(s) and construction company and will update you regularly about construction progress during the summer months. Project information, including monthly construction updates can be found on the Birch Elementary School project website. Specific questions should be directed to me, Stephen Henry at 720-561-5953 or stephen.henry@bvsd.org.
As always, we are extremely grateful to BVSD taxpayers for this project and to you for your continued support of Birch Elementary School. We hope you share our excitement for the great changes happening here.
Sincerely,
Stephen Henry
BVSD Project Manager

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROCESS
Community Engagement

The principal will decide which school staff or parents might need to be involved with the design process depending on the scope of work. The project manager will share information with the entire school staff at key milestones through the design process.
