UPDATES
January 2026
Welcome to the January Construction Update for the Arapahoe Campus! We hope this message finds you well and that you and your family had a wonderful holiday season. A lot of activity has taken place on the Arapahoe Campus during the past couple of weeks, both inside and outside of the school. This month, students and staff returned to a transformed main entrance, remodeled APEX administrative suite, and renovated classrooms on the first floor of the northeast wing which will house the Biomedical, Exercise Science, EMT, and Criminal Justice programs. Active construction has moved into the former Biomedical, EMT, Exercise Science, and Criminal Justice areas, as well as the former APEX administrative offices. These spaces will be remodeled to house Computer Science, Aerospace/Aviation, and Video Production. This next phase of construction will also include a new addition which will house a common area for students, as well as renovating the outdoor courtyard space. Construction will continue in these areas until May. The final phase of the project will include renovations to existing Construction Trades, Auto Collision and Welding spaces and new spaces for Quantum Manufacturing and Optical Engineering. The entire project is on schedule to be completed in the fall of 2026.
With the shift in location of active construction, circulation in the school has changed. Students will need to be attentive to and follow all pertinent construction signage and wayfinding instructions on campus.

June 2025
June 2025
Welcome to the June Construction Update for the Arapahoe Campus! With school officially over for the year and the students and staff off for a well-earned summer break, construction at the Arapahoe Campus has ramped up considerably from the work being done in the past few months. As a reminder, this project kicked off in March and will be ongoing throughout the site up through August of 2026. Taking advantage of the summer “down time” at a school is of utmost importance in a multi-phased project like this and both BVSD and FCI Constructors have put in place a plan to ensure this time is maximized before students return to school in mid-August. As such, the entire building, along with most of the surrounding campus, is off limits to anyone besides construction related personnel as work is taking place at several locations throughout the campus.
Below is an overview of the construction activities that will be taking place during the month of June:
- Complete final clean and wrap up tasks on Level 1 and 2 of the Phase 1 work area (former child care location)
- Begin and complete courtyard improvements, including pouring of concrete & striping, ornamental fencing, irrigation repairs, landscape covering & boulder placement
- Complete all activities in new fire pump room and begin final build-out of this room
- Complete fire line installation to the above room
- Complete carpet tile installation at former IT area along with framing a drywall installation in a few select areas of this space
- Begin and complete work on second floor of ARHS Phase 2 area, new window openings to outside, select classroom demo, layout and bathroom remodel
- Complete installation of corridor windows at ARHS area 2, level 2
- Complete abatement at the former cosmetology area and begin demo and initial framing for remodel in select locations

This month we will officially kick-off construction for our $29 million building renovation project! The improvements coming to our schools are thanks to the generous support of the entire BVSD community through passage of the 2022 BVSD Bond Referendum.
The project will address some critical facilities needs such as HVAC, electrical and plumbing upgrades, ADA needs, and installing a fire suppression system, as well as a kitchen expansion for the Transitions building. The majority of the project involves reconfiguring spaces throughout the main building to consolidate programs and expand learning spaces to create more opportunities for hands-on, career and college readiness learning. District office space on the northeast side of the building will be renovated to create learning spaces for Boulder Universal. Arapahoe Ridge High School will take over the east wing of the second floor, which will be updated with large windows, new flooring and paint and a new commons area. New space for the Teacher Academy will also be created on the second floor, along with a counseling center. The former Early Connections area of the first floor will be renovated to house the Emergency Medical and Criminal Justice programs. The front entry will get a makeover and a new area designed to host industry partners will be created near the administration suite.

Exciting things are happening at our school building, and we want to tell you about what’s in store for the coming months.
Thanks to the generous voters of Boulder Valley School District (BVSD), we are beginning work on a $25M building renovation project on the building that houses Arapahoe Ridge High School, Boulder Universal, and Boulder TEC. With this project, Boulder TEC will be transformed into a centralized career acceleration center for the district. The renovation project also includes much-needed repairs and upgrades to building systems and finishes, such as updating HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, installing a fire suppression system, and addressing various ADA needs. With this large-scale renovation, there will be some reconfiguration of rooms inside the building, with some learning spaces and administration areas relocating. The details of the design and specific floor plan will be developed through the design process.
The goal of the Boulder TEC renovation is to ensure all future offerings lead to high-demand, high wage career opportunities for students. The project will build upon Boulder TEC’s strengths, while improving the learning environment and expanding career exploration opportunities.
Boulder TEC’s administration and advisory committees have been evaluating the current programming, which includes biomedical science, automotive and collision repair, construction technology, criminal justice, emergency medical services, physical therapy, sports medicine, video production, and more. Changes are being explored to update and modernize BVSD’s offerings including the potential additions of environmental science and sustainability, health and medical, as well as quantum information science and technology. The updated facility will serve as a central hub for students who are ready to accelerate their academic careers by pursuing college credit, industry credentials and internships.
The project is currently in the early design stages. We have convened a design advisory team (DAT) of school staff, students, and parents to work with the project architect to guide the design for the renovations. Many decisions about the final design of the improvements will be determined through the discussions of the DAT. More information about the project, including the full scope of work and project updates can be found on the Boulder TEC/Arapahoe Ridge High/Boulder Universal project website.
We anticipate construction will begin spring/summer (2025). Closer to the start of construction, we will contact you with more information about what to expect. We are very excited about these changes and hope you will be too. Please direct questions about the project to Charles Zachemsky at charles.zachemsky@bvsd.org or 720-561-5954.
Sincerely,
Dr. Joan Bludorn, Arapahoe Ridge High Principal,

This month, the new CTE Steering Committee met for the first time. In the coming months the group will work with architects from DLR Group to develop a master plan to guide the district-wide CTE improvements funded in the 2022 capital improvement program. Moving forward, the group will work to identify and collect key data that will help inform this project, such as industry needs/future career openings, community & student interest and current CTE programming options. This work will build upon recommendations from the Career Discovery and Postsecondary Readiness Committee that concluded last spring. The goals of the committee were to explore programming opportunities and current barriers and propose next steps to expanding CTE in Boulder Valley School District.
