August 2018 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=19 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=19{28e838a4-8015-4177-ac17-2576b5d1e514}August 2018The construction crews have made tremendous progress and accomplished a significant amount of work over the summer. The building will be ready for students on Aug. 15. Although construction will be substantially complete in most areas of the school, there will still be ongoing construction in the kindergarten addition (as planned) and the central, multi-user restroom. Temporary restroom facilities will be set up in a fenced location outside the school. Student trips to the facility will be supervised by a para-educator. The restroom renovations are expected to be complete by the end of September. The kindergarten addition is on the northeast corner of the building and will be inside a construction zone. New windows will be installed in the west wing over breaks during the school year. In addition to the work mentioned above, there will be construction workers addressing minor work items throughout the building. All work will occur outside of school hours. Areas under construction will be separated from the rest of the school with barriers and warning signs. We will do all we can to minimize the impact to the school from construction activity.

The interior work will start with restroom renovations and classroom remodeling to include upgraded HVAC system, windows, and casework. Renovations in the cafeteria include adding moveable glass walls and adjustable furniture that will allow the room to be used in a variety of ways. Just as a reminder, the school and school grounds will be closed for the summer. In addition, the office has been temporarily relocated to Broomfield Heights Middle school until August. The interior and exterior renovations will be substantially complete by the start of school with work on the Kindergarten addition continuing into the fall.

During July, Himmelman will be working to complete the roof repair, installing new unit ventilators and windows, renovating the preschool area, reconfiguring the new main entry vestibule, converting the computer lab into a makerspace and installing new casework (cabinets) throughout the building. The renovation work is on schedule to be substantially complete for the start of school in August. Construction of the kindergarten addition will continue into the fall.
