April 2019 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=24 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=24{28e838a4-8015-4177-ac17-2576b5d1e514}April 2019 At its February 26 work session, the BVSD board of education indicated its support for expanding the project scope of work to include a two-story addition that will enlarge the cafeteria (second floor) and provide additional learning space and offices (ground floor). In addition, the project will include much-needed repair and maintenance to building systems and finishes, playground improvements, energy efficiency upgrades, security improvements, and renovations to support 21st Century learning. When the project was put on hold in 2016, the design was approximately 90% complete. This spring, the design advisory team (DAT) will meet with the project architects and BVSD bond staff to review the existing design plans and provide input regarding the expanded scope. DAT meetings will be held on April 10 and May 7 at 3 p.m. Drawing upon the DAT input and additional cost estimating, staff will make a request to the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee to take action on additional funding. Construction is anticipated to begin next spring/summer and be substantially complete by August 2021.,

Whether a classroom addition will be included in the project has not been determined. The project team is evaluating construction cost estimates received this fall and will provide more information about the construction timeline in the spring.

To allow more time to identify additional funding, construction of the original scope of work will be put on hold until next year.

    • Improvements to interior finishes such as carpet, flooring, ceiling tile, and paint

    • Repair/replace fixtures and equipment such as casework and gym equipment
