As we enter the final month of school, the tasks that can be completed (with students in the school) have mostly been addressed. Planning for summer construction is complete and preparations are being made for the big “push” starting in a few weeks. Note that the NES campus will be closed to the public beginning Saturday, May 25, with limited access for the administration and support staff during June & July.,

April 4, 2019 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=36 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=36{28e838a4-8015-4177-ac17-2576b5d1e514}April 4, 2019We hope all of you had a wonderful, and relaxing, time away from school! A great deal of work was completed over Spring Break! New carpet and paint have brightened up many areas around the school. Interior work will slow down considerably from now to the end of the school year, with the focus turning to outside projects and activity (as always, weather permitting!). Follow the link for specific details about work scheduled for the coming two weeks.,
April 18, 2019 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=37 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=37{28e838a4-8015-4177-ac17-2576b5d1e514}April 18, 2019Work continues along smoothly here at Nederland Elementary School with the same areas under construction over the coming two weeks. Work inside the school is minimal at this point and site work will continue to increase as FCI Construction gains more access to the areas around the school. In addition, as the end of the school year approaches (quickly!) you may see an increased presence of workers in and around the site.,

November 29 - December 19, 2018 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=32 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=32{28e838a4-8015-4177-ac17-2576b5d1e514}November 29 - December 19, 2018Work has moved along smoothly here at Nederland Elementary School as we enter the “shoulder” season between Thanksgiving and Winter Break! Plenty of activity took place over the past few weeks, with several classrooms having now received new carpet and paint (specifically 1st-grade classrooms, most of the 2nd-grade rooms). Despite the delay in receiving the carpet for these areas, which is now here on site, FCI did a superb job of getting the carpet installed over the past week or so. The project is now back on schedule for the most part. With that said, the next few weeks will see very little construction activity in and around the school. Electrical rough-in will take place throughout the school in selective areas along with the possible installation of the nest wall outside (weather and materials depending). Otherwise, a new “wave” of work will take place over the Winter Break (12/24 - 1/7/19), details of which will be sent to you approximately 12/20. Once again, we are very pleased with the progress, and results, of the work so far and look forward to the completion of more items in the month ahead!,
October 22 - November 5, 2018 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=29 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=29{28e838a4-8015-4177-ac17-2576b5d1e514}October 22 - November 5, 2018Welcome to the first of many communications concerning the bond-funded construction project at Nederland Elementary School! We are very excited for the changes in store for NES. As you have likely noticed, our contractor (FCI Construction) has hit the ground running in the past week with several items being addressed around the school site. Note that this communication is meant to give you a broad overview of the work to be addressed during the coming two weeks, with the obvious caveat that some things can be delayed due to factors such as weather or materials delivery. As mentioned, work has already begun as FCI has mobilized on site, placed temporary fencing and begun work outside. The purple playground is now closed. In the coming two weeks, the following work will take place: Final salvage of site items at the playground, Demolish site concrete, Remove pea gravel at mid-tier and at the structure, Remove grade at the 1st/2nd play structure, and Begin rough grading at the site in the last few days of October. The first round of the classroom work will take place in the second-grade rooms (111, 112 and 113). It is tentatively slated to begin the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 7, and be completed over the long weekend. Follow the link for more information.,

FCI Constructors has crews working throughout the building, utilizing this time without students/staff to make as much progress as possible. Renovations in seven classrooms and the library will be complete when staff return on Jan. 7--quite a feat in a short period of time! Follow the link for more details.,

Substantial work has been done outside the school. Beginning Nov. 7, the first of several “weekend wonders” will get underway in three classrooms. A great deal of planning and coordination has taken place between the contractor (FCI), BVSD, and the NES staff to minimize disruptions to student learning as the work begins to move into the classrooms.
