Carpet has been removed from the corridors and crews are working on sanding and sealing the main hallway floors. New carpet will be installed in the academic wing hallways. HVAC upgrades are underway throughout the school, and the new chiller being installed at the K-8 should be operating at the start of school. Renovations in the band room and new black box theatre continue. This month data cables and furniture will be installed in the new distance learning lab in the Forum. New furniture for other areas throughout the school will be delivered and assembled in the coming weeks. Outside the school, the concrete pad for the new tennis courts has been poured and is awaiting application of new surface material and striping as are the old courts. The lower parking lot has been paved and striped. The metal building for the press box will be installed in the coming weeks. The project is on schedule to be substantially complete for the start of school in August. Administrative staff have moved to Louisville Middle School (1341 Main St.). They will return to the school with teachers on Aug. 8.

Inside the school this month, flooring will be removed in the corridors. The main hallways will be finished with sealed concrete and carpet will be installed in the academic wing hallways. Demolition will begin in certain areas to prepare for HVAC upgrades and other work. Old classroom furniture will be removed early this month and replaced with new furniture at the end of the project. Outside the school, work continues on the 4 new tennis courts and the existing courts are being resurfaced. The foundation of the press box is complete. The lower parking lot will be paved this month. Roof repair will begin this month and there may be some associated odor. Administrative staff have moved to Louisville Middle School (1341 Main St.). The school will be closed for the summer, with limited access to the building and the site for specific activities.

The contractor will mobilize to the school site over spring break and will set up a staging area near the sand volleyball courts on the high school campus. Another construction area will be set up at Monarch PK-8 near the school’s gyms. During April and May, work will take place on the high school tennis courts and the air conditioning units at the PK-8. Once school is out, more extensive work will begin both inside and outside the buildings. ​The Design Advisory Team (DAT) team includes teachers, staff, parents and community members who will work with the architects to develop the design for the project.​ The design advisory team will be created when the project begins.

    Monarch High School is eligible to receive up to $800,000 in additional funds to implement facility improvements that support innovative teaching methods.
