Crews are starting to add a moisture barrier and brick veneer to the outside of the addition. Construction has also moved into the interior of the building starting with asbestos abatement, window replacements, HVAC and electrical upgrades, and room renovations. When complete, the interior will have two new innovation spaces, added kindergarten classrooms, a new stage and upgraded interior finishes (including new furniture). The administration offices have been temporarily relocated to Community Montessori (805 Gillaspie Drive, Boulder) school until August.

Some exterior work continues on the playground asphalt and landscaping. A ribbon cutting event to celebrate the completion of the project is scheduled for Sept. 13 at 5 p.m.
July 2018 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=27 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=27{28e838a4-8015-4177-ac17-2576b5d1e514}July 2018Himmelman Construction continues to make progress on the renovation work at BCSIS and High Peaks. During the month of June, the contractors were busy removing some existing interior walls, concrete flooring, unit ventilators and windows while updating electrical, mechanical and plumbing. Outside the building, crews have been installing a new roofing system, renovating both east and west playgrounds and completing the exterior envelope of the new kindergarten addition. During the month of July, Himmelman will shift their work to installing new unit ventilators and windows, installing drywall in the new spaces and preparing spaces for new flooring and paint. Crews are working hard to get the building ready for students and staff in August!

They have poured the concrete foundation and are working to connect the roof line of the existing school with the new addition. They will begin metal wall framing and roofing in the coming week along with mechanical plumbing and electrical rough-ins. Once school is out for the summer, Himmelman construction will expand work into the inside of the school for renovation. Just a reminder the gardens and school site will be closed for the summer. The district will bid the project again in the fall and anticipates pricing will be more competitive at that time. The project team is evaluating the possibility of moving forward with some discrete elements of the project this summer.,

Two new pieces of playground equipment were installed - one on each playground. The project is set to go out to bid in November.
