Over the past few weeks, they have been working on completing exterior wall panels and installing windows. In the interior, crews have been busily working to install drywall, casework and acoustic ceilings throughout the building. They also have been installing carpet in Area B (learning community 2-5). BVSD staff have been working with Fielding Nair International (FNI) and Boulder Commercial Interiors (BCI) to complete the furniture design. In the coming weeks, crews will continue to work on the exterior portion of the building by installing exterior doors and glass. The interior work will continue with interior finishes and flooring. GE Johnson is keeping students and staff involved with regular tours of the project. The building is on schedule to be ready for students and staff in August!

To make room for the new school, part of the southwest wing of the existing building will be demolished. Before demolition can occur, asbestos containing materials need to be removed from this area of the building. This work will begin later this month and will be conducted according to BVSD, state and Federal regulations. After abatement is complete in May, the construction contractor will mobilize to the site. Until the end of the school year, construction activity will be limited to the southwest corner of the school and the exterior area immediately adjacent to it. Over the summer, the construction area will expand to include the entire southern part of the site and will include onsite parking for workers.

September Update Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=8 Updates/DispForm.aspx?ID=8{28e838a4-8015-4177-ac17-2576b5d1e514}September UpdateOn September 8 & 9, members of the Creekside Elementary School community including teachers, parents, students and community members, engaged in a Discovery Visit with educators and architects from Fielding Nair International to develop a vision for the new school. Through interviews and workshops, the design team got to know the school, learned what makes Creekside Elementary unique and began to imagine what the new school will be. The construction of the new Creekside Elementary School building provides the opportunity to rethink how we build schools to support student success in the 21st Century. BVSD has developed Innovation Guidelines to guide instructional practice and design of learning environments. At the Community Visioning Workshop on September 9, the design team shared some of these ideas with the community and gathered their hopes and wishes for the new school. You can see the presentation from the meeting on the Discovery Visit Dashboard linked below., Creekside Discovery Report

Scope of Work

The Creekside Elementary School building will be replaced with one of similar size to serve the current enrollment area of Creekside. When district staff assessed the needs of the building, it was determined that it makes more financial sense to replace the building rather than make significant investments in repairs and maintenance.

New construction provides the opportunity to create innovative, 21st Century learning spaces that support modern curriculum delivery in a building that is safe, comfortable and energy efficient. Using BVSD’s green building principles as a guide, the school can be built green from the ground up.
