Educational Innovation Features{28e838a4-8015-4177-ac17-2576b5d1e514}Broomfield High's project will transform the library into a world-class learning commons. The renovated space will reflect current trends in 21st century libraries that support the BVSD Innovation Guiding Principles of Inquiry, Curiosity, Social Process of Learning, and Personalized Learning. Specifically, it will include spaces designed to support collaboration for students (and staff) to work together to smaller, more individualized areas. Shelving will be replaced and set up to appeal to teen readers allowing for a modified “bookstore” approach rather than a warehouse approach. Creativity and curiosity will be fostered through the introduction of a Design Lab where students will be able to create and innovate through personal inquiry. Tech tools supportive of learning and inquiry will be located throughout the library, including a sound and projection system adequate for large groups, large screens around the library to allow students to plug in a work in groups, charging stations, and noise buffering. The library will extend into the courtyard providing a space similar to a sidewalk cafe where students can eat and work in a relaxed, outdoor environment.

Design Advisory Team

The Design Advisory Team (DAT) team includes teachers, staff, parents and community members who will work with the architects to develop the design for the project. The design advisory team will be created when the project begins.
